Many shy students tell me that they want to make more fiends or that they do not have many friends. That is their own fault usually !!
You must BE A FRIEND yourself to attract people to be your friend !!
You must call/text people to let them know you are free.
You must invite them on a REGULAR basis to do things together.
Everyone is busy usually, but you need to text/call new people to let them know you want to spend time with them.
Call/text several people at your school to hang out and have fun with.
Use the MEETUP.com website to join social groups in your city and find new friend group.
Joining sports groups is a great way to meet new friends too.
MISTAKE:
many foreign students only hang out and talk with people from their own country, and never talk to american native English speakers. THIS IS A BIG MISTAKE !! You must force yourself to talk with Americans in your free time. You English will get really good this way and you will make new friends that way. DO NOT STAY WITH YOUR OWN CLASS OR SAME COUNTRY PEOPLE. VERY IMPORTANT. I see this happen all the time. It is really sad, especially for people who only stay in America a short time.
