Many college bookstores charge really high prices on textbooks. Especially on specialized English textbooks.
A foreign student bought a new textbook for $80 USD. I was really surprised how much he paid for the new book. Afterwards, I told him to look online (amazon) and buy it used or rent it for the semester/quarter. He found the SAME books, used for $30. He bought it right away and received it 2-3 days later in the mail a his house. $50 savings.
Be smart, and look up your books online.
I always choose my classes in advance for the next quarter and find other students in the next class I will take and offer to buy their books off them in the middle of the quarter. I offer them half price. They usually take my offer. I saved $175 this quarter on used books, usually $325 new!!
I also found all my used textbooks online also.
